Benefits of Lavender

Lavender not only smells nice, but it can also have beneficial effects on the body. Lavender is typically used as a fragrance in hygiene products such as soap, perfume, and lotions. Lavender is also commonly used in room sprays and plant-based household cleaning solutions.

The smell of lavender is beginning to be recognized for its calming properties. It is known to help calm stress and promote relaxation and restfulness. Lavender is now being added to teas and desserts due to its potential health benefits, floral and minty flavor, and natural color.

Lavender can help ease insomnia when combined with other methods. Applying lavender to the soles of your feet or diffusing lavender in your bedroom a half-hour before sleeping can promote a calm and restful sleeping environment. Lavender can be added to your evening chamomile tea for an extra calming boost. Also, try diffusing lavender in the room when having your evening meditation/relaxation session to encourage a more successful outcome.

Lavender oil can be used to ease muscle soreness and soothe bruises. Lavender is being combined with Epsom salts to be used in the bath for this purpose. Lavender is also known to calm irritated skin. So, not only does it make you smell fresh, but it also makes you feel renewed after a long hard day’s work.

Lavender may not be for everyone, but it is certainly worth a try. Consult your doctor before using if you have any preexisting health conditions or concerns.
